This is Where I Want to Be

...with a really good book.

This is what I feel like doing...

This is what I wish my desk looked like...

But this is more like how it actually looks...

TGIF y'all! Hope you enjoy your weekend break as much as I'm going to enjoy mine :)

(Belated) Red Carpet Emmy Recap!

Okay, okay, I know I'm a week late. But better late than never... right? Anyway did YOU watch the emmy's last week?? I am so excited that the red carpet is BACK! The stars came out for the big event and there were some definite hits and misses. Ravishing red was the trend of the night!

REDS & CORALS:
My favorite was a tie between the stunning Nina Dobrev & Kate Winslet:

Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan STOLE the night! This fashionista nailed it with a curve-hugging gown and a perfect necklace to accent the modern hollywood glamour silhouette. A++ Nina!

Kate Winslet in Elie Saab. Simply beautiful! Kate can do no wrong!

Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang. Beautiful as always, Sofia pulled it out in a stunning coral gown that flaunted her curves.

FEMININE SPARKLES & PLUNGING NECKLINES:
Julia Stiles in Georges Hobeika Couture. She looked so beautiful!! Definitely one of my top favorites of the night. The style and color of the dress looked lovely on her!

Jennifer Carpenter in Tony Ward Couture. I'm obsessed with Dexter and LOVE her!

Christina Hendrix in Johanna Johnson. Well, she played up her biggest assets and it worked! She looked old-hollywood glamour fabulous.

Kristen Wigg in Zac Posen. This plunging neckline looks stunning on her! I love the color and the draping of this gown. Bravo, Kristen! (p.s. - if you haven't seen Bridesmaids yet, GO BUY IT RIGHT NOW! One of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time!!)

CUTEST COUPLE AWARD GOES TO: Jon Hamm & Jennifer Westfeldt! Jon looked dapper (as always) in a Tom Ford suit, while Jennifer looked lovely in a vintage, yellow Helena Barbieri dress.

OKAYS...
Lea Michelle wearing Marchesa. Don't get me wrong, she looked beautiful! But I think she should have done an updo with this dress and I'm just not crazy about the overworked shoulder pads. Not bad, though.

Dianna Agron in Roksanda Ilincic. I like this style on her (even though some said it was too mature, I disagree) but I do think the material looks a little cheap.

Elizabeth Moss in Marchesa - she was so close! I love what she was going for but this color does nothing for her. Along with the matronly hairstyle, this just didn't work.

Gwenteth Paltrow in Pucci - I liked where Gwen was going with this but the cut and fit of this two-piece gown was just not right. It almost gives girlfriend a muffin top and I know she's got abs of steel. The intricate lace & beading was beautiful, though! If only it was a one piece....

MISSES...
Zooey Dechanel wearing Monique Lullhier. Ahh Zooey I usually love her style but this dress was NOT for the emmy's! The pink with the bow just did not work for her.

Claire Danes in Oscar de la Renta - while she can pull off pretty much anything, I was not feeling this gown. The layered geometric shapes felt way too 80's workout leotard.

Oh Amy Poehler... you were almost there! I love this midnight blue color with her fair skin and blonde hair but this material is not forgiving on her lovely figure. It also needed some kind of necklace or statement bracelet.

Anna Faris in Reem Acra. I am totally on board with the tribal trend right now but this dress just did not look right on her with her skin tone. I think she should have gone with the blue or red colors of the night!

Taraji P. Henson in Blumarine. This style did nothing for her fabulous figure. She should have worn something cobalt blue or fierce green to compliment her skin tone!

Julianna Margulies in Armani Prive. Poor Julianna - she looked gorgeous but WHAT THE HECK were those bubble things on the corset?! When she presented I kept thinking those things were giant beads of water about to roll off her boobs. Leave the Prive to Lady Gaga, please.

Paz de la Huerta wearing who knows. Is a comment really necessary? Sorry Paz, I love Boardwalk Empire but I don't love this look. You're way prettier than that! Get over the "wanna be different" fad and get yourself a good stylist and makeup artist.

Start Your Week Off Right

Here's hoping!
